What brought me there?
It was the only warm, exotic destination open and accessible during COVID, with no restrictions or complications to get there. I was just waiting for a chance to escape the “prison” we had all been placed in. No need for details. I ended up in Zanzibar intending to stay for a month—but I stayed for four.
When something is meant to happen, it happens. And it was wild, unforgettable, and so much fun!
I returned the following winter…and the one after that. It was still the most accessible and free place in the world, with none of the countless requirements and conditions. Plus, it was a wonderful destination for relaxation, amazing food, and endless entertainment.
I made many friends, and Zanzibar started to feel like home.
The Maasai tribes are fascinating. You can visit their villages to see how they live—or at least how they present their lives to tourists. Whether it’s genuine or staged doesn’t matter. What’s important is that they offered to marry me! I would have received 15 cows in exchange and moved into a mud hut, sleeping on a hard bed covered with animal skins. I’d drink milk from a hollowed-out gourd bottle, sometimes mixed with cow’s blood.
My days would be spent milking goats, bathing in a puddle in the savannah…
It was a very tempting offer, but I had to decline. It’s still too early for me to get married.
Zanzibar is perfect for those who love exotic vibes, white sands, crystal-clear waters, luxury, fresh seafood, safaris, kite surfing, diving…did I miss anything? Oh, yes—the parties, the African rhythms, and the magnetic allure of the people. There’s something for everyone to take home as a memory or experience.
Don’t miss immersing yourself in the spirit of Stone Town, Zanzibar’s main city. There’s something magical and utterly captivating about the old town. Its narrow, winding streets are lined with tiny antique shops hidden behind unassuming doors. But step inside, and with every step, you’ll find larger and larger spaces filled to the ceiling with antiques collected from who knows where. It feels like stepping into another world.
It’s a unique blend of cultures—Moorish, Arab, Persian, Indian, and European.
So, what are you waiting for? Head to the airport and have a safe flight to Zanzibar! Cheers!
