My first steps in Nepal came after a journey in Tibet. Descending from the heights of Everest and Kailash, I arrived in Kathmandu – a city where I had so much fun that even the local mafia wanted to pay me whatever I asked, just to stay and keep dancing in their nightclub.
Here’s the story: after 15 days in Tibet, where the thin air made every movement slow and deliberate, the idea of running or dancing seemed impossible. Constant headaches, moments when the air simply disappeared at high altitudes, and emergency oxygen bottles were the norm. The journey was deeply spiritual, filled with meditation, minimal physical activity, and only the occasional trek – like the circuit around Mount Kailash or the hike to Everest Base Camp.
But as we descended toward Nepal and Kathmandu, my energy returned – first as a spark, then as a full-blown explosion. Once settled into the hotel and after dinner, our group headed to a local nightclub. While most observed, only one other “ticking time bomb” and I threw ourselves into wild, uninhibited dancing. We danced the entire night, overshadowing the nightclub’s entertainment program, which was quite impressive but couldn’t compete with our sheer joy and energy.
The nightclub gangsters, who couldn’t take their eyes off me all night, even made me a job offer to stay! These were unforgettable moments. I live for this – for the experiences, the smiles, the happiness, the fun. That was my first encounter with Nepal.
The second one? It was entirely different – a month immersed in a yoga school. Daily practices, mastering meditation, and diving into the finer details of yoga teachings.
